Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) Summer Conference is a one-day event to help PhD students in all disciplines prepare for a successful academic job search. Sessions focus on all aspects of the job search, including finding jobs, preparing the c.v., writing effective cover letters, interviewing, and negotiating the job offer. Columbia faculty and panels of recent graduates, all in tenure-track positions, will offer advice and answer your questions.

Small group sessions ("speed-dating" format of 10 minutes with a different faculty, administrator, or recent graduate in a tenure-track faculty position) include teaching, research, time management, department and university service, writing and publishing, writing proposals for external funding, work-life balance strategies, getting a post-doc position, and C.V. Doctor Consultation.

The "price of admission?" Bring one copy of a draft of your vita and a draft cover letter for applying to a tenure-track faculty position in your field/discipline.

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, in an effort to acclimate new postdocs to Columbia University, would like to offer a first look at the resources at the Morningside and Medical Center campuses that directly relate to the postdoctoral experience. Discussion includes a brief run through of benefits according to the four postdoctoral titles, an initial look at an Independent Development Plan and how to plan for the future, and the services available University wide and through the OPA.
