Thomas S. Bottiglieri, DO, is a specialist in the non-operative management of complex medical conditions affecting athletic participation, including chronic and acute injuries affecting the bones, joints, and muscles of pediatric and adult patients. In addition, he is an expert in the field of concussion care and management, and focuses on a patient-centered approach to patient care that stresses shared decision making with his patients and their families.
Dr. Bottiglieri is an active member of the regional sports medicine community and serves as the medical director for eight school districts in Northern New Jersey. After completing his fellowship in Sports Medicine, Dr. Bottiglieri launched a concussion management system for public schools in Bergen County, and has cared for thousands of sports injuries and concussed athletes since the programâ??s inception.
In addition to frequent talks at regional conferences on topics relating to technology in healthcare, pre-participation screening for athletes, concussion recognition and management, overuse injury, and spine injuries, Dr. Bottiglieri is a frequent participant and organizer of community education projects. Talks on health-related topics of junior and high schools are among his favorite speaking engagements.
Dr. Bottiglieri lives on Staten Island, New York with his wife Vanessa and their 4 children, and maintains an active lifestyle through martial arts training and sports. He coaches his childrenâ??s athletic teams, advocates for community projects that encourage healthy lifestyles, and continues to bring his knowledge and care to each of his patients, one at a time.
