Around the world in CDA - A journey through the world of shared EHR
Abstract: This presentation will describe the use of HL7‘s CDA R2 standard to build document based shared EHRs all over the world. We will analyze the scope and overall goals of each project (multinational vs. national vs. regional, EHR vs. PHR), the decisions made on document transport, security, privacy and patient/provider education, and specially we will focus on the content of the exchanged documents: which kind of documents they end up creating and/or exchanging and why, how each project balanced the tension between text and structured information, and some hints on the results so far.
The projects analysed will be: C-CDA (US), HC3 (Catalunya, Spain), DMP (France), HCP (Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires, Argentina), EPSOS (Europe) and PCEHR (Australia). There are more projects but these are good examples of what can be done with CDA R2.
